Our Idaho history

We’re proud of our Idaho family legacy, which started in the early 1900s when our founder’s great grandparents immigrated to Nampa from Czechoslovakia.

Following is a brief summary of our Idaho family history from Wendell T. Harness, the founder, owner and chief bottle washer at Harness Media:

“My great grandparents, Frank and Mary Vanek were both born in 1887 in the Czech Republic. They were married in 1910 before immigrating to the United States shortly thereafter. During their multi-year migration toward Idaho, they had four children in Colorado and Wyoming. Once they arrived in Nampa, Idaho, they were the happy parents of my maternal grandmother, Anna.”

“My grandfather, Wendell Burchard, was born in Colorado in 1917. His family moved to Missouri for a few years before making their way to Twin Falls, Idaho. He eventually landed in Nampa, where he married Anna in 1940 and worked at a machine shop in downtown Caldwell. They had three kids, the youngest of which is my mom, Rhue, who was born in 1945 while he was in the Army. Grampa was discharged about six months later.”

“In 1967, Rhue gave birth to me, and I’m honored to carry my grandfather’s name. From that time, we’ve lived in various states, including Oregon, Arizona and California, but my true home is right here in Idaho. My family and I currently live and work in Middleton, Idaho. I’m proud of my heritage and am excited to help you grow your Idaho business.”
